No, and here is what to do instead

Shapewear for a halter dress

No. A halter leaves the shoulders and upper back bare, and the NULAYER bodysuit has shoulder straps; they would show. We do not make a halter or convertible version yet. Wear a strapless bra with a smoothing brief or short.
CutNeither. Both cuts share the same top half with two shoulder straps, and a halter bares exactly where they run.ShadeNot the question here; no shade hides a strap on a bare shoulder.StrapsFully adjustable for length, not removable. They cross the shoulder next to a halter tie and show from the front, the side and the back.Don'tDon't tuck the straps under the arms or pin them to the dress. Pulled sideways, they drag the waist panel up and the bust panel across, and the bodysuit stops doing the job you bought it for.

Why it is a no

A halter dress holds itself up from the neck. The shoulders are bare, the upper back is usually bare, and often the dress scoops low behind. The NULAYER bodysuit holds itself up from two shoulder straps, which is the whole reason it does not roll at the waist; under a halter, those straps are in plain view on both shoulders and the top of the bodysuit's back shows under a low scoop.

We could write this page as a yes with a trick, and some shapewear pages do. We would rather say the plain thing: this is the wrong garment for a halter, and we do not make a halter or convertible version today. The pages that say no are the reason you can trust the pages that say yes.

What a halter dress needs instead

The job the bodysuit would have done is the waist and the seat, and both can be done by separates. A strapless bra handles the bust, and a high-waisted smoothing brief or short handles the midsection and the seat with nothing over the shoulder. Under a halter in satin or jersey, choose a brief or short with flat edges, and match its shade to the dress's lining.

What separates give up is the thing a bodysuit is for: a brief can roll at the waist, because nothing holds it from above. Under a halter that is the trade, and it is a fair one for a night when the shoulders are the point of the dress.

The halter that is not really a halter

Two cases come up. A halter worn with a jacket or cardigan that stays on all night would cover the straps, but a party is coat on, coat off, and one coat-off moment shows them; that is a bet, not a plan. A dress with a halter front and a full high back, which some bridesmaid styles have, still bares the shoulders beside the neck tie, so the straps still show.

Where the shoulders are covered, the answer flips. A sleeveless dress with wide straps, a square neck, a wrap or a sheath all cover the bodysuit's straps with room to spare, and the fit guide has a page for each. If your halter dress is one you can swap for one of those, the bodysuit goes back on the list.

Which size: No size to choose for a halter; the bodysuit is not the garment. For the brief or short you wear instead, size by your own waist and hip measurements against that garment's chart.

Questions people ask

Could I wear it with a shrug or jacket over the halter?

Only if the jacket never comes off, and at a party it does. One coat-off moment shows two straps on bare shoulders. A strapless bra with a smoothing brief is the honest answer.

Do you make a strapless or halter bodysuit?

Not today. The current design has fixed, adjustable shoulder straps. If that changes, this page will change with it; until then the verdict stays no.

What about a halter-neck jumpsuit?

The same no, for the same reason: the shoulders are bare where the straps run. The jumpsuit page covers the versions with sleeves or wide straps, which do work.
