NULAYER › Fit guide › Shapewear for a strapless dress
No, and here is what to do insteadA strapless dress has nothing on the shoulders, and the NULAYER bodysuit has two straps there. They are fully adjustable for length, but they are not removable and they are not convertible; the built-in bra and the smoothing panel both hang from them. Under a strapless neckline, a bandeau top or an off-the-shoulder dress, the straps show. That is the whole answer, and we would rather say it than sell you one that comes back.
We do not have a strapless or convertible-strap version yet. It is on our list alongside the backless version, and this page will change when it exists. Until then, the current thong and mid-thigh cuts are for dresses with straps, sleeves or a neckline that covers the shoulder line.
The tempting fix is to slip the straps off the shoulders and tuck them down inside the dress. It does not work, for three reasons. The front of the bodysuit drops the moment the straps come off, so the deep V sits lower than it should and the bust support goes with it. The top edge, with nothing holding it up, folds over under the dress and shows as a ridge. And the straps themselves end up as a lump under the bodice, which a strapless dress, fitted through the bust by definition, shows plainly.
If you already own the bodysuit and this dress is strapless, keep the bodysuit for the next dress with straps and wear something else under this one.
Split the job in two. A strapless bra, sized properly, handles the bust. A high-waisted smoothing brief or a mid-thigh smoothing short handles the waist and hip and stops below the bra band, so nothing sits above the dress's top edge. Choose the brief's shade by the dress colour, the same way you would choose Black or Beige here. Put the dress on over both at home and look at the top edge in the mirror; a strapless bodice shows a gap or a ridge at the bust more than anything else. If the dress is strapless and low in the back as well, read the backless page, because the same split-the-job answer applies.
Which size: Not applicable. This bodysuit is not the right garment for a strapless dress; size a strapless bra and a smoothing brief separately.
| Band | US | Bust (in) | Waist (in) |

True to size for most wearers.
Between sizes: the smaller band for maximum smoothing, the larger for all-evening comfort.
No. The straps adjust for length but do not detach, and the bust support and smoothing panel depend on them. A bodysuit with the straps off the shoulders does not stay up.
Not today. A strapless or convertible-strap version is on our list, as is a backless one. The current thong and mid-thigh cuts both have shoulder straps.
One shoulder is bare, so the strap on that side shows. Same answer as strapless: a strapless bra and a high-waisted smoothing brief or short.
