What this band is built to do
S–M covers four dress sizes, US 4 to 10: bust 34 to 38.5 inches (86.5 to 98 cm), waist 26.5 to 31 inches (67 to 79 cm). It smooths the midsection and waist at medium-firm, holds the waist panel up with fully adjustable straps so it does not roll, and shapes the bust with a built-in bra that puts no compression on it. The thong cut leaves no visible panty line; the mid-thigh covers the upper thigh under a fitted skirt or dress. Both open at the hook-and-eye crotch closure without taking the bodysuit off.
Because the band spans four sizes, a US 4 at bust 34 and a US 10 at bust 38.5 wear the same garment. Where you land inside the range decides how it feels: the lower end is the lighter hold, the upper end is the firmest this band gives. Most wearers find it true to size.

If your bust sits in one band and your waist in the next, the rule is simple: the smaller band for maximum smoothing, the larger for all-evening comfort. For S–M that usually means a waist of 31.5 or a bust of 39 pulling you toward L–XL, or a waist of 26 pulling you toward XXS–XS. Pick by the evening you have planned, not by the label you would rather wear.
