NULAYER › Occasions › Shapewear for a wedding guest
Yes, wear itA wedding is not a two-hour dinner. It is a ceremony, a drinks reception on your feet, a seated meal with three courses and wine, speeches, dancing, and a queue for the bathroom every time you go. Six to eight hours is normal; a full-day wedding runs longer. Whatever you wear under the dress has to pass the after-dinner test: at hour five, with a meal inside you and your shoes coming off, is it still something you have forgotten about?
That is the reason for medium-firm rather than maximum compression. The NULAYER bodysuit smooths the midsection and waist and is comfortable to sit and eat in. It is not a maximum-compression garment, and for a wedding that is the point: the garment that looks tightest in the mirror at noon is the one you want off by nine. If you want maximum compression for a two-hour event, choose a firmer garment; for a wedding, choose the one you can eat in.
Both cuts open at the crotch with a hook-and-eye closure, the same hooks as a bra band, so a bathroom trip does not mean taking the bodysuit off in a stall while the queue waits. Unhook, go, hook it back; the dress stays on and the straps stay on your shoulders. Do it once at home, standing, in the dress, so the first time is not behind a locked door at a venue with the band playing.
Choose the cut by the dress. A satin slip, a fitted sheath or a bodycon shows a leg hem, so wear the thong. A wrap, a fit-and-flare or a long A-line hangs loose from the hip, so the mid-thigh works and its tummy control panel sits under the waist seam. Under white, cream or a pale dress, wear Beige; under anything dark, Black.
Set the straps the week before, with the dress and the shoes on, so the deep V sits under the neckline and the crotch sits where it should. Sit for five minutes, stand, check the mirror, and you are done. Pack nothing extra for the day: there is no waistband to pull up and no strap to fix. If the straps at their longest still pull, that is a size too small, not a strap problem, and Amazon's free 30-day return means you can swap it before the date.

Which size: Size by bust and waist from the chart. For a long day, between sizes take the larger band; at the top of a band, go one up. All-evening comfort is the brief.
| Band | US | Bust (in) | Waist (in) |
|---|---|---|---|
| XXS–XS | 0–2 | 30–33.5 | 23–26 |
| S–M | 4–10 | 34–38.5 | 26.5–31 |
| L–XL | 12–14 | 39–41 | 31.5–34.5 |
| 2XL–3XL | 16–20 | 41.5–48 | 35–41.5 |
True to size for most wearers.
Between sizes: the smaller band for maximum smoothing, the larger for all-evening comfort.
Yes. The compression is medium-firm, built to smooth the waist and still be comfortable to sit and eat in. It is not a maximum-compression garment, which is why it works for a three-course dinner.
Unhook the hook-and-eye crotch closure, go, and hook it back. The bodysuit and the dress stay on. Practise once at home so the first time is not in a venue queue.
By the dress, not the occasion. Thong under satin, a sheath or bodycon; mid-thigh under a wrap, A-line or any skirt that falls loose from the hip. Beige under pale dresses, Black under dark.
