Why the shade is the whole question
White and ivory fabrics let light through in a way a dark dress never does, and anything darker than the dress under them shows as a shadow. That is why the adjustment here is the shade and only the shade. The NULAYER bodysuit comes in Black and Beige; under white, cream, ivory or champagne, wear Beige.
Our Beige is a light beige. Under most white dresses with a lining it disappears. Under a very sheer white, an unlined cotton or a thin summer linen, hold the dress against the bodysuit in daylight and look. If you can see the bodysuit's edge, the dress needs a slip as well, and that would be true of any garment under it. A deeper shade is planned, but it is not here yet.
Which cut under white
White fabrics tend to be lighter in weight than their dark equivalents, so they cling more and show more at the seat. Under a white dress that sits close at the hip, wear the thong: the back leaves no panty line, and the bonded edges lie flat where a brief's leg edge would print through white.
The mid-thigh cut, with its tummy control panel, is for a white dress with a full or loose skirt, a lined A-line, or a bridal gown with structure through the skirt. There its leg hems sit under fabric that falls away from the body and nothing prints. Under a white sheath or slip, choose the thong.
Bridal showers, summer weddings and the daylight test
Most white and ivory dresses are worn in daylight: a bride's second dress, a rehearsal dinner, a summer garden wedding, a christening. Daylight is the honest test. Put the dress on over the Beige bodysuit, stand by a window with the shoes on, and turn. Then have someone photograph you with the phone flash on; flash finds an edge the eye misses. If both pass, you are done. If the flash shows the top edge of the bodysuit, lengthen the straps a touch so the V sits lower, and check again. The bodysuit is medium-firm, so a long white-dress day such as a summer wedding or a bridal shower stays comfortable, and the hook-and-eye crotch closure means the dress stays on in the bathroom.
